New Facebook and Instagram Artificial Intelligence

The type of communication used by people on social networks has changed, nowadays is used a lot of memes in the form of videos and images, so that Facebook can have a better control of what is being posted, it created an Artificial Intelligence (AI) called of "Rosetta" capable of analyzing in large scale the images and videos posted on this social network.

This analysis would be impossible without the use of this AI, given that Facebook has more than 2 billion active users monthly, so people are constantly publishing images, videos and texts. This AI will review the posting to see if it contradicts the content policies of the site, and provides a better view of content for users. 

According to Facebook Rosetta is able to analyze more than one billion images and videos per day, this analysis takes place in a wide variety of languages. The verification is done through optical recognition of the characters present in the file, first it detects and marks with a rectangle where it contains letters and then uses neural network to decipher and transcribe.

This technology is already being used by several teams from both Facebook and Instagram in order to polish the posts made on both platforms. The social network said that it is already expanding the number of languages ​​supported by Rosetta so that you can get a better extraction of information from the content posted on both partner networks.

It has also been announced that Facebook has begun to translate 24 new languages ​​automatically (which already happens with several other languages), among these new languages ​​are Serbian, Belarusian, Marathi, Sinhala, Telugu, Nepalese, Kannada, Urdu, Punjabi, Cambodian, Pashto, Mongolian, Zulu, Xhosa and Somali. The translation of these new languages ​​is still in the "beta" phase, which means that there will be many errors, but in time they will be solved. More languages ​​will be added to this list in the future.
